Fun at the Post Office

Going into reverse it would seem. Recently we received a form letter from the USPS. Our post office service has been one of the many to be "altered". Ah, have been waiting for news of this ever since the word came out that they were losing money and some services would get the ax!
Starting rather soon, our P.O. will only be open four hours a day, until "they" get all the forms back and have their meeting. I was not really thrilled with the choices. Most likely our address will change. There is also the possibility that we will have to get a P.O. Box in some other town and go to fetch our own mail. (This of course, would cost that P.O. to have to add on to their building, hire another worker or two and put in more boxes.)
I wrote in their comment section that I just wanted to have my mail picked up and delivered. I do not want to have to go pick it up (I seldom would - bills would get unpaid). I do not want a different address (It would be confusing and more than likely screw things up at the banks, our insurance companies, our tag registrations and the list goes on).
Gawd, just not what you would call a happy camper…

    1. It's going to affect a lot of us seniors. Another one of their ideas was to pay for some local store to handle shipping etc. I'm not that keen about things I mail not being in a secure area. It really is a mess, I tell Ya!

  2. My mom works at the post office. They are so stupid in how they do things. If any other business was run this way, they would be completely shut down. It's a mess.

    1. I have a couple of acquaintances (friendly terms) that work in P.O. and I couldn't agree more!

  3. We live in Otis a town with 8 businesses that are still working this includes the posy office. I too have been waiting for our P.O to go down. When it does we will be traveling 14-43 miles to get our mail.
Not a pleasant thought at all.

    1. Closest bigger town is 21-22 miles from here. There's another dinky town and PO about 9 miles, haven't heard yet if they are going to keep or not.

No, definitely not a pleasant thought.

  4. We are lucky. After the changes here to our mail system, the 'community' box pick-up is not very far from our house, within walking distance about two minutes.
Will they listen to your complaints?

    1. Not sure if they will actually read any of the paperwork everyone is supposed to send in.
You have to remember where we live.

  5. and however deliveries changed from 5 days a week between 9am and 2pm to whenever they want to...which could be at 11pm if deemed OK in their eyes.

    1. LOL! Now we get delivery anywhere from 11:30 to 5:00.
I would be happy with pick-up and delivery any time, would beat having to drive wherever.
