I See Dead People

Spending a lot of my time watching old TV shows. Finished all of Columbo. I believe he's one of my favorites. He was a good looking fellow when he was younger. I watched an episode of Decoy from 1958 that had Peter Falk in it. He really had a long run, didn't he? Whew, over 40 years.

Kind of off subject, yet not - No One can convince me that the big 'Silver Screen' or television doesn't influence people. Nearly every vice has been glamorized at one time or another. Drinking, smoking, doing drugs, whoring, etc. I believe the violence we see today is the offspring of all the screens in our lives. Just my personal opinion, don't chew my head off. Some people would be bad, no matter what, but  ...

***
I'm confused.
Post nasal drip.
Post means after, right?
Nasal means nose, right?
After the nose.
Hmm.
The words tell me,
I have a runny nose,
Not crap in my throat.
Anti Nasal Drip
Or
Pre-nasal Drip
Would be my choice ...

Stupid things I think about when I should be going to sleep at night. I am getting to be an old lady. Oh well.

  1. I have come to that conclusion many years ago, friend Sharon ... when my kids were little, I would shut off the tv as soon as the first swear words and signs of violence were heard/shown in a movie ... I deeply believe in a very wicked hollywood conspiracy to poisen our minds ... my son is well adjusted to this day ... my daughter not so much as is transgender ... I was fighting so hard, friend and still ... I must have done something wrong, which pains me to no end ... anyway ... wishing you a very awesome day today ... you are very precious to me ... Love, cat.

    1. That's why I prefer the old TV shows from when the words were regulated and we weren't subjected to continual foul language, bare skin, and bloody carnage.

  2. So much violence may well make us numb to it, but then I've never tuned out shows or movies with violence and I don't like to fight and have never even held a gun. I certainly don't think TV or movies effects gender preference other than encouraging some people to be true to their feelings.

    1. I'm not numb to violence and avoid it like the plague. Gender preference? That's something you're born with and cannot be helped, I agree.

  3. I loved the way the suspect always breathed a sign of relief when Columbo seemed to be done questioning him/her and was about to go away. And then, Columbo would turn back and ask something in a very disarming way, such as, "There's something I can't quite figure out , but maybe you can help me . . ." And the suspect just knew he wasn't getting off so easy.

  4. You are so right Sharon. I think kids these days are not fazed by anything due to what they see on tv and films. we were not subjected to outright violence when we were kids and the shows were more gentle. Murders just showed someone on the floor, now they show all the nasty details.

    1. Yep! And such good shots they were, one or two and the deed was done! Haha. Now they show repeaters and tommy guns and the injured still get up! Blood everywhere, walls, ceiling ...

  6. How nice to learn that other people's minds take them to some weird places in the small hours.
No argument about the impact of the screen though. Goodness we are gullible.

  7. I'm with you on the violence on screens. Don't tell me that if kids start "killing" electronically on video games from the time they're 7 or 8, it doesn't cause them to have a skewed view of death and killing.

  9. I agree about the influence of the silver screen and I would add video games where the goal is to shoot at stuff to score points. Nice to see you posting again, Sharon.

    1. Video games with violence are the worst. They put warnings on them and then the idiot parents buy them for the kids anyway or they play at a friend's house. Grr!

  10. I aired the same viewpoint regarding TV influence on young people. The stabbing and shooting is rife at the moment in the UK. They see it and copy it. It's about time programmes were tamed.

    1. I'd like to see them outlawed, but then we would be going into 'Rights" territory ...

  11. Post nasal is because it runs the opposite way, instead of the runny nose when you are up and about, it drips back and goes down the throat when you are lying down trying to sleep. I've had it for years and hate it so much. I'm told that a 'simple' sinus scraping operation can help, but I don't see how since the sinuses continually produce mucus.

  13. I think my nose is doing both a post and a pre drip! I have been watching old Miss Marple TV shows and a really good one from Australia, and then I got notified on my Kindle that Suits was back on, so I have been busy watching and re-watching season seven of it. Not on my TV, but on my Kindle Fire. Good to be back visiting you again.

    1. My nose is doing the same. Allergies!!!
I still don't have broadband good enough for saving series, it would be easier, but instead I have piles of DVDs.

  14. Sorry to hear about your nasal drippings. I'm post-a-cold but my nose is still dripping and violently sneezing from time-to-time, most annoying! I love Columbo! I love seeing how Peter Falk's character works back to the killer from the actual killing :)
