The 'Naked Ladies' or 'Surprise Lilies' foliage is up and growing well, if not a little crowded. They will grow and be green long enough to feed the bulbs, and then will die back later on. Around the end of July, the green is long gone and the area will be just lawn. One day, when they are ready, each bulb will send a single stem through the ground and a cluster of pretty pink lily blossoms will greet me, basically overnight, if the ground has had sufficient watering. This picture was taken by leaning out the back door. |
Yes Spring is here too. Vacant lots here are filled with some kind of yellow flowers, I don't know what they are. Maybe I can get a picture o them when I get over the terrible headache I have.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing a photo of the "naked ladies" when they arrive :) You got some good shots there! I'm not sure what's happening weather wise here...it's still cool some days but I'm afraid we're going to HOP right into summer like we did last year...but while it lasts I'm enjoying the LOW humidity :)
ReplyDeleteEverything is blooming to the west of here, even in town. And this morning it snowed, go figure.
ReplyDeleteSpring! Yayyyyy!!!
ReplyDelete"In the early winter of life, I am now 70 and surprised that I made it this far." No shit, I'm amazed I have made it to 72 and have no idea how I managed to do that.
ReplyDeleteSpring? Here in central Texas we'er almost having to turn the A/C on.
Never heard of surprise lillies. I have a few barely poking though the ground.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on
