Busy in Tennessee!

Not sure how many of you have heard about the fires in TN, or how many are familiar with Dollywood and Gatlinburg. Bad mess over there in East Tennessee! Between the tinder dry and the high winds the area is a disaster area. I sympathize with those who lost family and their homes on Monday.

Then too, we had tornadoes rip through a swath of MS, AL, and TN, last night. It was one wild ride. 5 people were killed. I think there were 23 tornadoes reported. Lots of damage. I was in the watch zone, but I didn't feel the danger I often do - nothing was that close. There are times when I wish I had an underground shelter though.

I hope this bad stuff doesn't deter visitors. Tennessee is a beautiful state and we're tough folk here. Prayers and good vibes are welcomed here at this time. Check the net for areas most desperately in need of your concern.

  2. I've been watching. Hope more rain is on the way, but not those winds and tornadoes.

    1. I'm hoping for more rain, at least over there near and in the Smokies. We did get a good rain, although we are still behind in our rainfall.

  3. We saw the fires on our news last night. They didn't say anything about the tornadoes though
I hope they catch those idiots that started them. I know they have caught a couple
Lets hope a little more rain will help your situation
    Stay safe xx

    1. I believe the tornadoes are getting too common for them to report by you.
More rain would be most appreciated, especially in East Tennessee.

  4. I have been keeping an eye on the news. I agree that Tennessee is so beautiful and it's tragic that fires are burning in your state. The pictures coming out of Gatlinburg are heartbreaking. I feel terribly sorry for the people that are having to deal with this. They are certainly in my thoughts and prayers.

  5. Seen a few forest fires. Haven't had any last few years. But never seen a tornado my thoughts are with people in Tennessee.

    1. The forces of nature are fearsome to say the least. I've been in the vicinity of two tornadoes though not affected, scary.

  6. That's a lot of tornadoes. We almost never have tornadoes here in South Australia, but we had four small ones the time we had the whole state blackout during a storm.
I hope you are always safe and not in danger from them.

    1. So far, it's been okay, haha. I have an alert on my phone when anything is close. Tornadoes aren't around all the time, seems we do have a good run of them every year though.

  7. Living in a state that is devoured by wildfires every year, I've been keeping a close watch on TN and praying for all of the people there and the animals.. It's heartbreaking to watch but I am happy that you are safe and sound. I lived in the south (Arkansas) and was surprised at how many homes didn't have basements or good old fashioned root cellars. Mine did and I was thankful because that weather in the south is wicked.
