Lowering my standards

Just a little letter from home today.

Dear Friends and People who put up with me,

My helper came again today and did (?) her job. I have no choice but to consider it a job well done because I can't do it myself. I have decided that I have to lower my standards and be thankful somebody is cleaning up in here. Perfectionists do need a shrink... I like certain things done certain ways and I am just going to have to look the other way when the bowls are put in the wrong place or half the dust is left on a table. I can hope she catches the other half next week. Not everyone does things the same way as WE do it.

You have to know it's making me a little crazier than usual though. Right? I imagine if I get stuffed in at a nursing home, I will be there a week and then sent to the funny farm, because I know already that they don't do things right... er, MY way. Now what did she do with my shoes...

  1. I used to work in the nursing home... you would be the one with your light on every 10 minutes, right? complaining that your pillow is too far to the right or that your tv needs moved up just a half an inch or so.. LOL
    That's why we love you!

    1. You must have been working on the "first floor". LOL! I worked on the "second floor", nobody had lights. They just screamed or wandered out the door if they could, usually half naked, doing things a toddler would do. Nope not a light pusher - I'm more of a screamer...

  2. I've given up a long time ago in thinking I could ever find someone that would stand living with me. It's much better nobody messes with my routine. :-)

  3. Had a similar discussion with my mom yesterday, only she would rather move than get someone to help her. Oy.

  6. And would your 'helper' go by the name of Hazel or is she a bit better than the last one!!
It must be hard to accept that we must rely on another for things we did so easily before.

You have reminded me of when I came home from the hospital with a new born son and started to move things back to there rightful places within 5 minutes of walking in the door.

Thankfully I had a very understanding M in law who understood - she cuddled the baby and made a cup of tea, then left me to myself to rearrange the bits and pieces. We laughed about it years later - she said Dh had no idea where anything was kept and said wherever they put it wouldn't be right anyway lol
    Take care

    1. This one is Hazel #2. Hazel #1 will never darken my doorway again.

  7. It's probably a 'control thing' now that you have to give up some control you always had. It must be difficult to do this....I know it is. But hey, when you think of it, as you are doing now, in the scheme of things in the universe, really just how important is it that things are done your way?
He said as he watched Ron closely.........lol

    1. It does feel awful when things aren't the way you're used to and you can't do anything about it.
