Bush needs help...

This is a 3 yr. old pic. of my favorite bush. Today is 06/19/2013 and I may have only about a dozen blossoms. Is it sick? It looks good, bigger actually. Should we prune in this winter or does it need food? If food, what? If pruning - how far back? Thanks for any help! Have a good day!
I don't know about pruning it but feeding it certainly won;t hurt. I use miracle grow in my garden. I think there may be a special formula for bushes and trees.
ReplyDeleteI am no help. We had crape myrtles that i thought were dying for two years. No theyre loaded with blooms. I did put some horse manure around them.
ReplyDeleteI'm not an expert, but I would guess the crazy weather we've had may play a part in how well it blooms. Hopefully, next year will be back to normal for it.
ReplyDeleteOf course, Blogger tells me my OpenID url is missing. Thank goodness Millie doesn't mind me borrowing her ID.

That's a huge Rose of Sharon, Sharon. I agree with Tex in that this might just be a slow year for them. If it's otherwise healthy, I'd leave it be.
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful Rose of Sharon, Sharon!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with a few above....leave it alone. It is a mature tree/shrub and knows what it is doing.....probably an 'off' year. No fertillzer needed.
All I have to do is look at a tree/plant/flower and it wants to die so I'll pretend I didn't look at this post.
