Hard to believe

One of the bloggers on my list posted that bowling as we know it is a thing of the past. Now, I have never seen the 'bumpers' he spoke of, but I haven't been to the bowling alley for about 10 years.

Read Cranky old man's post here http://joeh-crankyoldman.blogspot.com/

I used to bowl on two leagues, one was in the morning with the girls. I was given a trophy after my second year - "Most Consistent Bowler" yeah, my scores averaged 111. Try not to laugh too hard, Cranky. On Friday nights I bowled with mixed doubles and I did better then, I would get a Black Russian from the bar and relax. One year, the girls  went to the tournaments and I relaxed and then my handicap helped us win! We played the last game slightly hung over, but then, so were the other teams. Good Times!

  1. The bumpers go on here during school holidays. To help the kids.
After that they are taken away
Don't know about the scores. I've only bowled twice
And both times I apparently did well.
Might have to have a bowling night again soon.

    1. The bumpers may be good for the little kids, I am not sure though. I don't think it's such a good idea, kids are not having to learn what it's all about. (In anything)
I really enjoyed bowling and the people I bowled with.
We have a bowling game on the wii.

  2. A good stiff drink helps a bowler relax, but the heavy drinking teams often don't do so well in the third game.

    1. True enough, normally I only drank 1 Black Russian - they are pretty darn stout!

  4. In another life many years ago The Golfer worked in the leisure industry. He managed bowling centres and was also State and Regional manager (for a US company with three letters as their brand and trading name) having several centres under his wing. I lived and loathed that industry. He put so much into it he was 'world manager' for that company - as in had the best returns of all their worldwide centres. Do not mention the words Ten Pin Bowling in our house unless you want a mouthful from me lol :). A very profit oriented business!

  6. I've bowled just once in my life and had to use a ramp to roll the ball down because With my bung shoulder I couldn't bowl the regular way without doing some damage. I did get one strike though :)
It was a night out with the girls, we had so much fun.
