OMG! It's raining!

I can hardly believe this, but it's raining, a soaking-in type of rain. Of course, we have some windy conditions with it and the dogs are upset about it. I see another good chance of rain coming up again real soon, so maybe the drought is over. (I also see a 30% chance of frozen precipitation one night. I hope not.)
It really is about time. I wish it was bedtime so I could lie in bed and listen to the rain pitter-pattering on the window as I fall asleep. I imagine if it keeps up too long, I'll be griping about the gloomy days and damp, but we were quite far behind in the rain department and we really needed this.

  1. Glad you finally got the rain that you need. And yes hopefully you get enough and not more

    1. It's supposed to stop in a few hours. It's all soaking in - not running off, thank heaven!

  2. Oct was a socker for us and we keep hearing about snow, and when we look at mountains snow keeps crawling down.

    1. I've heard that the northern states will have enough snowfall this year. I guess that's good and bad, depending on how you look at it. I don't like snow, myself, or ice ...

    1. Yes, Joe, there were lots of fires around here. The forecast looks very promising, thanks!

  4. Rain is expected for us as well on Tuesday and Wednesday. It won't be enough to solve the deficit we're having, but it's something. Our county has asked for "voluntary" water restrictions. That doesn't apply to us because we're on a well, but we still conserve anyway.

    1. A few years ago, we had a rain shortage and I worried about the well going dry. I think we are promised rain several times this week, so hopefully at least once we shall get rain.

  5. I do love a good soaking rain. We rarely get them here, it either sprinkles just enough to wet the leaves, or buckets down so hard and fast the ground can't take it in.

    1. That happens here, that's why I was so tickled to have it come down slow and steady. We have a clay soil here and it can get like a rock.

  6. Rain! Good for you guys! Are you anywhere near the fires that are happening? My heart goes out to those who are... We are getting some rain here today.

    1. It's over now, but I feel we got a decent start. :-)
Not close close, but close enough to smell the smoke. My o2 guy is volunteer fire dept and he says they have been very busy.

  7. I am totally jealous. We haven't had a soaking rain in months. I, too would love for a nice rain to fall asleep to. "sigh" it will surely come eventually.
