I was up and awake a couple hours or more before the sunrise. I should have gone back to bed! I love these golden mornings where everything is bathed in glory.
Yesterday I sprayed the lavender with dawn/oil/water. This morning in the good light, I noticed some black moldy stuff on the underside of the leaves and some of them were definitely dying. I whacked it down to the nubbins and made a little cyber note card with the flowers before they got the heave-ho out the window. I have dosed it again - if the plant does not improve, I'll rip the rest of it out and forget it.
This little guy stopped momentarily, only time to take one shot. You can see how much the fig has leafed out in a little over a week.
I thought my flowering plum was dead, but this morning I noticed a few blossoms starting to open. I went through my old pictures and yes, the pink blossoms take longer to come out. I hope it gets really pretty, but if it doesn't snap out of this straggly look though, I guess I will end up with a flowering crab and forget it.
Have a great day, night, whatever!
Awe that's neat.. the cyber note card idea. Boy are we having one beautiful day here today! It won't be long until we see color
ReplyDelete:-) Hope you are now getting some daytime snoozing in zzzzzzzzzz
Glad you had a beautiful day! Getting those spring juices flowing.
DeleteNo nap - yet!
Awww I say take a nap, I do every chance I get.
ReplyDeleteShould have ...
DeleteI was at the store yesterday and saw a flowering plum in a box for sale and thought of you. I didn't know we even grew up here.
ReplyDeleteThey are a beautiful tree with pink blossoms in the spring and that wine color during the summer. Nice of you to think of me! :-)
DeleteWonderful to be up before sunrise!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd even more wonderful, to have such a view of it.
-sigh- Here, trees/houses block a direct line, to both sunrise and sunset. -sighhhhhhhhhhh-
That sounds as if we are really blocked in, and we aren't, but still, the horizon is not laid out before us. If that makes any sense. ,-0
And later, take a nap. I have to at least close my eyes, every afternoon. Always have. Otherwise, I fall asleep too early at night.
I understand perfectly, we have that problem during some of the seasons. In the summer, we only see a sunset if we go out in the road and sunrise is behind a row of dense trees.
DeleteThe UPS guy came and that got me stirring ...
Beautiful little guy. Goldfinch?
ReplyDeleteI think the one pair has a nest close by. :-)
DeleteI hope you can resurrect the lavender. I always give mine a good cut back each year
ReplyDeleteHave the nap. But set an alarm otherwise you won't sleep tonight
I am hoping the lavender will survive, but if it doesn't I will live.
DeleteDH will be home shortly, so no nap.
I've tried and tried to grow lavender, but just never have any luck. I love to nap, around here we call it Happy Hour.
ReplyDeleteMy track record is about 50% success rate.
DeleteHappy Hour ... hee hee hee! :-)
What a beautiful sunrise! Course I was not up to enjoy it! haha....and I love American Gold Finches. Beautiful. Sorry about the plant, hope it makes it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not usually up but, today was quite the exception.
DeleteI'd like more of the pretty birds, we have too many cowbirds around here.
Not very often I take a nap.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on
Normally I take a power nap, just not today. :(
DeleteI love that sunrise. My house faces the wrong direction so I rarely see one. Even so, I don't think I've ever seen one as good as yours. Sad about the plant.
ReplyDeleteI did have to go out on the porch for that shot, but the first rays do flood the living room no matter what time of year. I do need to learn not to get emotionally involved with the lives of my lowly plants. ;-)
DeleteGorgeous photos. Good luck with the lavender and staying awake:)
ReplyDeleteThanks - I tried to go to sleep but it eluded me until near midnight. No more early morning escapades for me if I can help it!
DeleteYour heading is so appropriate. I'm sitting here yawning, with drooping eyelids and realising I AM going to have to have a nap. If you have cut off all the infested parts of the lavender it may well recover, but you may need to give it completely new potting soil too, in case the bugs live or hibernate in there. It will take time to recover if it is going to, so give it a few months.
ReplyDeleteIf the lavender does begin to recover, I would suggest finding it an outdoor spot where it will get plenty of sun but be sheltered from winter cold.
ReplyDeleteI've treated it, it will have to live or die - putting it outside is not an option as watering would present problems. Also, it's in the big planter, no room for more. :-(
DeleteI've had several mornings lately when I have been up just before the sun. I certainly could use a nap around 1-2 in the afternoon on those days.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it was that bright moon - I was awake early again this morning. I'm ready for a nap again, too.
DeleteI always wake up before the sun and I so love the sunrise. Your picture of it is gorgeous.
