Here I go - again!

I watch (listen, really) to quite a lot of PBS while I play on my computer. I discovered there was more to the programming when I happened upon Poldark a few weeks ago. Wow, I was impressed! It's in one hour segments and if you know me at all, you know I am not going to wait around all that long to see what happens next. I went on Amazon to find the books. Erp ... expensive or will be if I shoot for the whole series. There are 12 books! Some person has the whole set used for $149. I can just hear myself, trying to justify spending that kind of money on something I will most likely read once. Well, I ordered the first three - maybe if I bite off a little at a time, it won't go against the grain so bad. Maybe I can find the rest of them somewhere else. Bleep, I may not even like how they are written! (That would be a fine kettle of fish if I had spent that kind of $$$!)

PBS is rebroadcasting the first season now, before the second season comes out this fall. Glad I caught the reruns. The first three books arrived today, so I may be absent or inattentive for a while. Bombs can go off when I'm reading and nothing gets done.

Uncle Jimmy came for more blueberries on Sunday, DH said he picked about 2 gallon. I went out there a couple times today (with a long break to cool off - it was wicked out there today) and picked about 3 pints. It will be a few days before I need to pick again. My petunia is looking much happier and my cuttings are still alive and well. It's as good a time as any for be inside a book - or three.

See you on the other side!

  1. Poldark has been on TV here, but a long time ago, when I didn't watch much TV because I was busy with the kids and reading a lot more then. So I haven't seen it.
I usually get books from the library to see if I will like them before I buy.

    1. Too hard for me to get to the rinky-dink library. Also a big hassle for such a large collection.

  2. Most books I read are free or out of thrift stores.

  3. I wasn't familiar with this series until I read this post. Sounds interesting. Have fun reading the books. I'll try to catch up with a few of the season one episodes. I see I can watch them on line through our PBS stations website.

    1. I never knew they existed until a short while ago. Still in book 1 but I should kill it in the morning. (Unless I decide to finish it tonight - ha ha)

  4. Enjoy the books. If you do, you will be entertained and nothing will get done at your house until about Thanksgiving or so. I must catch this series. I think it's on Amazon video too. Will check.

    1. Like I was saying, getting from the library here is problematic.
