Two (Twenty) Steps Back

You don't have to answer this, but how many of you married for a long time, have a spouse who actually listens to what you are saying? It seems I don't.
He hit it with the lawn mower
Before I could stop him, he took out the remaining poke!
Needless to say, I am a bit bent about it, I had just been talking about the poke berries for the bluebirds a couple of days before, as I was anxious for them to fill out and ripen ... He thought he was cleaning out the figs for me ...

For being in the dog house. (It's a cupcake)

Oh, yeah, and I got flowers ...

  1. I was never married to the same woman for a long time but any woman I was with I discussed things like that with her first. I did once draw the line when Marie started planting things close to my shop, a man needs a little of his own space also.

  2. My husband's mother, a farmer's wife, raised him right when it came to plants and cutting things. But in general guys often hear but don't record for future reference. LOL

    1. I guess not. I'll bet he won't mess with my little habit anymore, though ... :-)

I will tell him were I'll be it took me a while to grab him and look him straight in eye and say something like.."Ill be in fabrics" and then ask him what I said....Or I'm talking in dead air.

  6. One fancy cupcake. Wonder if he will listen now but then he isn't my husband. When I was widowed at 50 he was divorced for the third time and I'm not going to be the fourth.

    1. Smart woman, Paula! No, I doubt he will listen any better, but he will watch out for my plants and hopefully ask before he rips their little roots out, again!

  7. Selective husband hearing...very familiar with it. Husband usually listens very intently when it comes to yard things but often during a discussion when I mention something I get the "You never told me that!" I think his husband ears turn off and on depending on his level of interest in any given subject.

That's sweet that you got flowers.

  8. My first husband and I were married almost 24 years but he was in the Army so away a lot, there wasn't much communication there. When he got out of the Army he spoke to everyone BUT me. We'd grown apart. Second husband never shut up, talk talk talk all the time, he was more girly than i was with his needed to discuss everything. That marriage didn't last long.

    1. It's so hard to figure out men. (And they have the nerve to say that women are so hard to understand!)
