How could they?

You know that I am not a huge fan of television, right? Mostly for entertainment, I watch or listen to PBS channels, BUT I did have some favorites on regular TV. Rissoli (sp?) and Isles, which is having their series finale on Monday night, was a favorite. Now, I find out that Devious Maids has been cancelled. How could they? Of all the nerve! Regular TV has nothing to offer me anymore. Yes, I am picky, and I am getting leery of watching anything on Lifetime anymore, if they are going to cancel shows willy nilly.

I really liked Devious Maids, it was adult foolishness where I could laugh and enjoy it for what it was. TV reality shows have pretty much taken over! BLAH!

I'm sure the bell is going to be tolling for NCIS. Everybody is getting old ... I'm sitting here trying to remember what else I watch. It's not all that much.

On the happy side of things - My PBS channel is going to have a Labor Day weekend marathon of Downton Abby. I missed so many of the shows because of conflict with DH watching one of his favorites and recording another ... Now I can record the whole thing and he will have to relinquish a channel for me for the long weekend. Soon the Poldark series will be on again and they have some neat stuff in this year's line-up. I will not be without entertainment. Of course, I'm still bummed about Devious Maids.

  1. Hate when they cancel a favourite show. Yup too much reality television these days. That's why I get DVDs. Watch what I want when I want.

    1. My problem with DVDs is that I only watch them once or twice.

    1. Our library had a two day loan - not in my game plan to drive all that way twice a week (or more) considering I no longer drive.

    1. No, thank heavens, that's not in the works yet - but we should never say never ... Mark Harmon IS the show. ;-)

  5. I loved Rizzoli and Isles, but haven't seen any of it since they changed the time slot to 11.30pm. I'll catch up with it eventually, when they start replaying the series at a decent hour.

    1. Whoa, what a rotten time slot! I don't know - reruns aren't always on a good schedule either - I wish you good luck!

    1. Yeah, on a cliff hanger, talk about dirty, rotten scoundrels! I wish another company (that I have) would pick it up and continue on.

  7. Glad to hear about the marathon of Downton Abby. I've never watched it but heard so much about it I might give it a try.

    1. Six seasons, back to back to back. I will have to record - I will need my sleep!
Check your local stations to make sure if they are showing and also the time. You'll love Maggie Smith!

  8. I am very much on the same page. I don't watch much TV but what I do watch is mindless entertainment. I am sad to see Rizzoli and Isles end. I am seeing a few commercials for new Fall programs that might capture my attention but as you say, it is disappointing when you get interested in them and they get cancelled. The good thing about Rizzoli and Isles is that they have let us know that it is ending and the plot is wrapping up. It's far worse that an abrupt stop and the story is never concluded.

    1. I don't think anyone knew Devious Maids would end. I never considered it - I think somebody had an ax to grind. Foolish to just end like that when as far as I knew, it was a popular show.

  9. What a coincidence. I came here to go through your posts to find out what you discovered about the continuation of Poldark. My friend Mary watched the first season, I think on a DVD and I'm watching it now on my KIndle. I see a season 2 on the Kindle, but they charge you $2.99 to watch it, which they usually do when a show is on TV or recently was on. I love it already, so I'm off to try to find all the stuff you wrote about it. Good to know another season is coming. And, as for me, I liked Mr. Selfridge a whole lot better than I liked Downton Abbey. And now I'm in love with an older series called Lark Rise to Candleford. It was on BBC America back in 2010 and onward. Love my Kindle Fire. Later, my friend.

    1. I'll have to watch for Lark Rise to Candleford. I've not seen it.
I think season 2 is just the first 'chapter' or I would go for it.
I have the old ones (think I mentioned) from 1975. Somewhat different.
I didn't see much more than last year of Mr. Selfridge, I guess I will have to wait for the reruns of the reruns. If I was rolling in dough, I would buy all of the Masterpiece DVDs, lol!

  10. I looked through July and August and thought I would find it there. Could you let me know the title and month of the Poldark post, please? Have a nice Labor Day weekend.

    2. This bodes well for mine and Mary's Poldark adventures. Thank you so much for all this.

    3. I read everything and now I will call Mary to let her know there are 12 books! And that the second season comes on PBS this fall. I'm looking forward to seeing it and reading the book, once I get my eyes fixed. Thanks again, I really appreciate this. I was going to continue watching Poldark on my Kindle last night, but fell asleep, so I have the whole first season to look forward to.

  11. Except for Downton Abbey television in the UK has lost the plot. Or is it me? I have to search for good shows, those that will keep my interest or make me laugh. Everyday TV shows are mainly cooking or gardening, like I'm interested at my age!

    1. Weekday programming seems to have hit the skids on PBS. My Sunday evenings on that channel are pretty much all that I watch anymore. Oh, there are a couple regular shows I watch, but the list is diminishing fast.
      Thanks for the visit!

  12. I love PBS. I only watch t.v. for the local news. Everything else I watch is either on Netflix, Hulu, HBO Now or YouTube. I watch what I want, when I want and I like it that way. ;) Rizzoli & Isles is a great show and also on Netflix. Who knows. Maybe Netflix will pick that show up too like they did Longmire when it got canceled off of regular t.v. Sometimes shows get a second chance with new episodes on Netflix. I hope they do that Rizzoli & Isles.

    1. Lucky you to have Netflix. No internet service here that we could ever afford for streaming. Nope, by the looks of it Rizzoli and Isles is over, over, over. Pooh!

  13. I don't know from Devious Maids, but I loved Downton Abbey, but missed some of it. I have all the seasons on DVD, and intend to have myself a Downton Weekend sometime. I wished I could get PBS here, we get quite a few channels, but not that one, I miss it! (I watch some things online... But it isn't the same as having it when you want, all the time... I like the new Verizon plan, but videos gobble our time... Sigh...)
