Suddenly this Sunday

Had a bit of an event happen this morning. Some guy was hauling an old trailer and as our luck would have it. It landed in our yard.
As you can see, it traveled into the yard before hitting a Pecan tree.

It hit with enough force to bend the frame -

And gouged a goodly chunk out of the tree root.

Surely, it wasn't in good condition to begin with.

Yes, folks, that is our mailbox and post laying on the back.
The man is back, they need to fix the mail box, the post was creamed, but the box itself is fine. Notice: no tag, good thing he didn't hit a person, or a car, or a house! Clearly, the trailer was in no condition to be on the road.

How's your day going?

  1. There is no excuse for losing a trailer, I've pulled many of them many thousands of miles and never lost one. The man is an idiot.

  2. glad he returned and will fix the mailbox post. i had a recent unwanted trespasser, too. 16 yr old kid ran a stop sign in the middle of the night and went thru my front pipe and mesh fence. thankfully missed a tree and the power pole, too. messed up his truck but he wasn't hurt - just shook up. his step-dad promised to fix everything. his dad then took over and (with the kid's help) got it all welded and put back together. nice when folks are good for their word.

    1. He's nearly got the mailbox up now. He could hardly hit and run - thank goodness he didn't. What would we do with that broken trailer? HaHa.
Ouch, he messed up your good fencing? Wow, glad it's fixed!

  3. Calm and peaceful around here. I'm so glad it wasn't a hit and run, that would have been terrible and left you with a lot of work to do. Saw the last episode of Poldark on my Kindle Fire last night and now I understand why everyone wants to know what happened. I saw a notice in my Kindle that it will return November 22nd. I hope that's true. Do you like the books?

    1. You can watch on PBS starting the 25th of Sept.
I liked the books, although the last two lacked something. They do clear up all the "what happened with?" questions.

  4. Wow, when you think of what could have happened you are all very lucky! I don't know about trees down there but up here you'd have to tar over that tree damage to protect it from bugs, viruses and weather.

    1. He must have been driving at a pretty good clip - he said it began fishtailing and when he hit the brakes, it took off across our yard. He has a friend who is going to come for it and the friend has some tar to put on the tree's wound.

  5. Wow. So lucky he didn't kill anyone! And it could of so easily been a major tragedy.
I hope the pecan tree survives. Silly silly man

    1. I hope the tree makes it too - the trailer really slammed into it hard to bend the frame and pop those boards!

  6. Oh my gosh SJQ...my first thought was poor tree and the next was thank goodness no human or animal was between the tow vehicle and the tree. That is a nasty gouge on the tree though. Happy the mailbox survived...hope the person responsible for this mess gets it put up again before the next mail delivery. Happily my day went better than yours...saw an impressive production of the Wizard of Oz. The casting was a mixed bag of everyday actors and actresses and physically and mentally challenged actors and actresses, it was great fun and very well performed. The lead was a young lady with Down's Syndrome who was excellent in her role as Dorothy. She nailed the dialogue, the singing and the required emotions. And best of all my mailbox was still intact when I came home. :)

  9. My day went a little better than yours and yesterday was fabulous. Spent the day with my brother and his wife who have just moved to my city.
Sorry to hear about your mailbox and tree; of course the mailbox is fixable, but the tree will take a long while to heal :(

  11. That could of been far worse if the guy would of lost the trailer on a busy road. I agree that it probably shouldn't of been taken out in the first place. Hope the owner of it takes care of your mailbox post.

That's not a fun way to start your day. Hope everything went uphill from there.
