Letter from Home

Hi Peoples!

It just dawned on me that we haven't turned the central unit on for the fall yet. Oh, we had a chilly spell of a couple days where I turned it on to warm me up a while back, but we haven't set the unit to come on automatically. We usually do that around the 7th of October. I'm hoping for a good fall this year, of no freakishly early snow or cold weather. The year (long ago) I made my son a dinosaur costume for Halloween, we had sleet and snow for our little trek to go Trick or Treating. We had a real bear of a winter that year. Of course, even further back, it was 81 on Halloween, and that winter it was pleasantly warm. I am hoping for another one of those decent winters.

DH went in for a stress test on Thursday. We don't know the results, but he made it through to the end without having to stop. I hope that is a good sign. He did say that he wanted to quit and the technician talked him through it. He had his echogram about a week before. He's been having some spells with shortness of breath and weakness. No chest pains ... Naturally, he's worried, but I think if he has a big reason, they would have called him for a quick return  to the doctor's office. His sister called him last night and told him she has a blockage and they are going to put in a stint/stent/shunt. So he's now convinced he is doomed ... We went through the same thing when his second sister was found to have cancer. He's of that age, I guess. Anything is possible. He finally realizes he is not immortal.

Looking at the hits for my blog. Getting a whole lot of visitors from Russia. Really? I wish somebody would say, "Hello."

He's back from shopping, so I will close. He brought me breakfast! I'm going to have eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy! Well, looks like Jill will be getting some eggs! Ha Ha.

Have a most lovely day, evening, whatever!

P. S. Breakfast was not so good. I ate one bite of eggs. Biscuit was small and over baked. The sausage gravy tasted like the had an accident with the salt shaker and the sausage patty was tough. He bought the breakfasts at Krystal, as Hardies had closed down.  Jill did love the greasy eggs ...

  1. We had the heat on for about an hour a few nights ago..just enough to take the 'edge' off. I don't think we've ever gotten to Oct 14 without having the heat on for the season before I like it. Wish I had someone trained to bring me breakfast lol.

    1. I like not having the heat on, am not partial to the droning of the fan motor.
I don't cook much anymore and I seldom did breakfasts, haha. :-)

  2. Cute costume at the top.

I think it is a good sign that your husband made it through the stress test. My husband didn't. I hope he gets some news soon. The waiting is HARD.

I get the Russian visitors, too, but I think they are related to the times when I have written about politics and an agency over there has set up a search bout looking for key words to should up on the internet. How's that for a conspiracy theory? LOL

    1. They will probably have him come to the office and there won't be a thing wrong.

I hardly mention politics, well seldom. I think they are cruising the blogs for people that are fed up with certain things - and they are looking for recruits! How's that for a theory? Or maybe the visitors are looking for comparisons in their home life. Who knows?

  3. I had some Russian followers a long time ago. They looked like real estate agents, but maybe they were a agents of a different kind. Tell you hubby that a friend of mine had a stress test and they took him right off the thing and put him in surgery to have a heart valve replaced. So I'm pretty sure they would let you know if something was urgently bad.

    1. Russian followers, hmm. That had to be kind of interesting.
I know, but hard to convince him especially since now his sister has a problem, he's sure he will have problems with his heart too. I've had a couple nuclear stress tests, and most of those fun heart tests. I'm still here. Not perfect, but still here.

  4. I always "stress" out waiting for the results of these tests, once you have had any heart issues you tend to question any feeling that comes up, it is scary and I understand how he feels, I know that you do too because you are right there with him. As you pointed out everything should be good because he finished it with no issues and they haven't called him in.

    1. Yes, I know. Waiting is a big pain. He has a lot less patience than I do ...

  5. I suspect if the results were bad they would have called him back. Quickly. Or not let him leave.
    Sigh on the breakfast front.
Love that long ago costume - and hope that autumn (and winter) treat you gently.

    1. I believe if there was a problem, they would have called Thursday evening or Friday morning.
      Yep, pretty disgusting breakfast.
It has been so nice thus far. A cooler day coming Monday, but supposed to rebound after. I'm crossing my fingers! :-)

  6. I'm glad Jill at least enjoyed the breakfast but sorry yours wasn't better:(
That dino costume is just too cute.
Hope your husband gets good results.
I remember many a cool/cold Halloween in the Midwest.
    YOU, have a wondrous weekend.

  7. I call breakfasts like the one DH brought home a "heart-stopping-breakfast" -- They're the best whenever they're cooked right! :-) Hope his tests come back okay!

I also love the costume you made - Kids today would love it too! I never have had a knack for sewing, and admire those like you who do.

    1. His doctor got on his case about it. He did watch what he was eating for a couple years, but lately he has started his old habits again.

He was wild about his colorful triceratops suit.

  8. You know I sort of miss the days where I got up and cooked breakfast for my kids. Now it is easier to grab something or go pick something up. I am loving the fall temps right now where the heat is not on or the air. Course I have to be cool to sleep....so I have my trusty fan!

    1. It sure has been nice - no heat or A/C running. Lots quieter at night and cooler for sleeping. :-)

  9. We've had a few cold days, so our furnace is on. Just had a whole house humidifier installed on our furnace. I got tired of the static electricity and shocking myself! What a cute costume! You are quite clever :-)

    1. We've thought about getting one of those whole house humidifiers. Maybe this will be the year. :-) I just bought the pattern ...

  10. Cute costume, do you still sew? I used to sew for my girls but when I couldn't thread the needle easily anymore I sold my sewing machine. It's still mostly summer here.

  11. We always try to make it a goal not to turn the heat on until November. The mornings are getting pretty chilly tho and I may have to bump up our heat date. :) - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the costume. Great pic. Great memory.

    1. I wish the weather would stay the way it is now, even with the on again, off again rain. Is there a place on Earth where it's like this year around?
Son loved his costume, wore it for two years. I have no idea what happened to it. :-(

  12. We're having a heat wave right now. It's not that the temperature is so high, it's that it is so humid. Clammy and warm. I guess I will have to order some crisp, cool October weather from Amazon.

  13. On visitors from Russia, make sure you have not written anything nasty about Putin. :-)

We're having a great autumn, if unusually warm. But I'm not complaining. I'm still wearing shorts in this weather. :-)

    Greetings from London.

    1. Hmm, I don't know anything about Putin besides what is on the news.

Shorts weather is nice. Your 'unusually warm' is probably not as warm as ours.

      Have a good evening!

  14. Well I am saying "hello" but I am not from Russia. Just from Oklahoma USA:-) Our weather is always in constant change. One day 60 degrees and the next 90 degrees.

  15. Summer decided not to come to us this year and the heating has been on for some time. I swear emigrating would be better. We are also to expect a hurricane.

    1. Ugh, another hurricane! Where would you want to emigrate? It's getting harder and harder to find a place that isn't hostile in one way or another ...

  16. I sympathise with DH: I used to be a terrible hypochondriac. I still can't read an account of an illness without thinking I have it!
Our heating has been coming on for a while now even though it's mild outside.

    1. I think he's like that too, but one never knows - you know? My father died from a heart attack in the hospital, after saying he couldn't breathe. He was my husband's age now.
Most of the leaves are still green(ish), it hardly seems possible for this time of year. I think it will chill down all of a sudden and all the leaves will fall. :-)

  17. Awe I love the picture and the costume. I use to make costumes for my kids too, and the weather... !! There were warm Halloween nights and then some wickedly cold with blowing snow. But it was all fun!! I hope DH gets good results back from his test. Was it a nuclear stress test? Gary had one a couple of months ago and his came back good. He had a stint put in several years ago and so far has been doing fine. It's funny, (not really tho!) as we get older seems all we talk about his what's wrong with us (health) lol!! It used to be we talked about all that was right with us. Oh, father time> you are not very nice LOL! I love when you share old photos!! share more! Have a good Sunday :-)

Did Gary get sick when he had the nuclear stress test? I did with one, thought I was going to die, lying there on the cold bathroom floor so horribly sick to my stomach. I guess I had an allergic reaction to something. The next time it was better, but still not fun.
Yep, if we didn't have surgeries and illness to compare, what would we have to talk about at gatherings? ;-)
      Good Sunday, Bobbi!

  18. Your Halloween costume so original and cute. I stopped sewing after our last move. Still have some fabric in my linen closet I've never gotten to using. Expect your husband's test went well, but you could always phone and double check. My recent routine medical check the Dr. wondered why I forgot to get my pre-appt. routine lab work. I had the blood workup but they never sent him a copy. He said this had been a problem recently. He said he'll always call me, including if test okay, just to let me know.

I've had hundreds of Russian visitors for months, possibly beginning long before that when I didn't check. They come for a number of days or week, then fade away. I think they're just bots -- associated either with criminals or govt. or both. Probably they do have key words they troll for. I considered possible efforts could be to link to all these hacked sites they're trying to link to us personally -- I don't know -- or political, or both.

  19. I can't imagine what bots would find on my blog, unless some code word is 'Tomatoes' hahaha!

  20. I'm sorry about the health issues, they can be scary. Good luck!

My DH has to go for a shot in the eye Wednesday. And maybe about once a month? This is the first so don't know yet. Yuck! I may have to drive him home (about 35 miles, partly in a city), so that might be the scariest part. I drive only around town because of my eyes. Doing the best we can with what we have left. :)

I'm also sorry the breakfast wasn't very good. Something enjoyable can lift the spirits.
