My Old Friend

On Mother's Day, J came up for a visit (bearing Chinese food) to help me with a question about the computer. My problem? I didn't have a clue as to how to download music. I missed the Simon & Garfunkel music he had installed on my old computer and I hated to ask him for another CD. (I'd misplaced it during the bed moving mess) He showed me and then he walked me through a couple times to make sure I could download whatever and it would work.

After taking out the garbage (it is Monday) I sat down and downloaded for almost 2 hours. Music, youtube videos etc.I guess I have a handle on it.

Hard to believe I had to turn the heat back on! It has been downright chilly in here. Jack was curled up so tightly next to me, I couldn't move him to get out of bed this morning.

Update on the doggy door - I managed to con Jack in by giving him a generous peek space and sniff under the flap (doggy bone in hand) and Jill was interested, but Jack got through and the flap hit her in the face. Back to square one with her. Think I made it to second with Jack - maybe.

  1. You do so many interesting things on your computer I don't see how you think you're going to do without one if the time ever comes when you have to upgrade to Windows. I don't listen to music, or watch movies/videos. I do download books to my iPhone and listen to those.

    1. I will use it as it is until it doesn't work any more.

  2. Glad you got your videos and music downloaded. I am confused about Linda's comment...are you not going to not have a computer at the point you have to download Windows 10????

    1. I don't plan on downloading win10. I didn't want to have to LEARN another OS because Windows cannot settle down and just work. Now, it almost seems as if we are being forced to do things their way. It kind of feels like I'm having a different religion shoved down my throat. You know?

    2. I understand the constant change with computer software is a PITA. Short of getting an Apple product, it seems that PC use in general is evolving in the direction that Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 has taken us. I am teaching a class tomorrow on Windows 10 and I can tell you that they have incorporated a lot of Windows 7 into this version. I find it much easier than 8 or 8.1. Depending on what version you are currently using, though, you won't have to upgrade for a very long time. Windows 7 is still supported by Microsoft with no current plans to discontinuing supporting it. I would hate to see you give up on having a computer though.

    1. It's handy to download - I imagine I will do quite a bit of it, instead of keeping the links and having to be online to look at something again.

  5. Doggy doors are handy. But our cat "Ziggy" figure it out before the Daisy.

    1. So far the cat hasn't tried, I'm talking about the neighbor's cat, not ours. Our cat hates being inside.

    1. Think I might crawl through that door for some bacon, Haha. JK
I have tried ham - if they would just get the hang of it without my being there to help with the flap - it's more of a mental barrier than anything ...

  7. Yep, weather is goofy here, too. 90s for about a week, then rain, then it was in the low 50's for a day or two, and today, it was foggy, then turned out nice. Mother Nature is having a nervous breakdown? :) And yea, you have to have patience with doggy doors... Except for one lady I was reading about, her chickens have learned to use the doggie door, to come in and lay eggs! But training them with yum treats is the easiest way to convince them the door won't hurt them.

    1. Chickens? Oh dear, one or two wouldn't be too bad, I guess, but any more than that ...
Jill in a snit this afternoon, I couldn't get her to even come into the living room. (Where the door is)

  8. Our weather is all over the place as well. We are supposed to be getting cold now. But the days have been sunny and nice. The nights are getting chilly now so hopefully winter will be here soon and we can get some decent rains. Good luck with th doggie door. I'm sure they will get it soon

  9. Did you see on the news about the lady who has a Bison that comes in the house. She would need a very large door.

    1. No, I didn't. I would be worried about having a large animal in my house - it could get pretty deep. Maybe she doesn't care.

    2. Checked it out - whoa! That lady is asking for trouble down the road.
