It gave me a good enough view to watch the progress.
It didn't seem to get as dark as I thought it would.
At the darkest.
I fiddled around trying to get a better pic with the larger binoculars, and had a hard time getting an image along with holding the camera. Wish I could have found my tripod. The moon was already moving out of the way by the time I got this shot.Well, that's it for now. I did also watch it happening on my computer part of the time. I have my science fix for now.
All this excitement while I was fast asleep!
ReplyDeleteThe computer is the best bet. I always have to resort to that as usually if anything exciting is happening up above it's cloudy here
Too bad you missed online, was quite nice!
DeleteI remember years ago when I was a child, the teacher gave us all a photo negative to look at the eclipse, I wonder we were no all blinded. lol

Photo negative? Wow. It does make a person wonder ...We had smoked (sooted) glass.
DeleteInteresting way to view it. It rained here, so no viewing.
ReplyDeleteOh, too bad. Check PBS tonight, might have "re-runs."
DeleteI built a cereal box viewer at the last minute. It did the trick. I remember the last one 38 years ago and I wonder if we'll all remember this one that well too.
ReplyDeleteHi Jill! I remember my last one too. :-) I'll remember this one for sure, was hot sitting out there!
DeleteIt didn't get as dark as I was expecting either. We couldn't find any glasses for sale so we made the box.
ReplyDeleteWe came out about even, I'd say. ;-)
DeleteIt didn't make much difference here either.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping for crescent shapes in the shadows of the trees, nope. :-(
DeleteI thought it was fun, a nice diversion. It didn't get very dark here either but the temperature sure dropped! I didn't expect that.
ReplyDeleteTemps dropped about 8 degrees here, it didn't last long though. I was surprised too.
DeleteIt was cool to watch even though we only had about 65% coverage. Nice idea using the binoculars like you did.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what % of coverage we had here, but it was still worth sitting out in the heat.
DeleteI'm hoping to see it tonight on the TV news. It won't be the same as being there, but I think it's one of those things that really never live up to the expectations driven by all the hype.
ReplyDeleteI watched it on the news, it sure didn't last long.
DeleteI watched it on television. Sometimes I wish I lived in a place where I could see these things first hand.
ReplyDeleteI weighed the pros and cons of driving to the total blackout and staying home won. Maybe if the weather hadn't been so hot and humid, and if I had a good driver ...
DeleteI would have enjoyed being on that cruise during the eclipse:)
ReplyDeleteThat would have been really something else!
DeleteIt was under-whelming here, too......
ReplyDeleteGosh, it's hardly dark at all!
ReplyDeleteYou have to remember that I am 50-60 miles as the crow flies from the total dark.
DeleteFriend of mine used a telescope, glasses and camera. Got great shots. Never thought of that. It got dusk like here but I was expecting it to get dark little by little and it did not happen that way.
ReplyDeleteOh, boy, a telescope!
DeleteGreat idea with your binoculars. I never would've thought of that. I did the whole box thing and it was amazing. I'm happy I was able to see it.
ReplyDeleteGlad your box worked for you!
DeleteLooks like you did pretty well with your eclipse capturing. I enjoyed the experience with glasses and then following it across the country.
ReplyDeleteIt was over so quickly, it was nice to watch it happening all over the country.
DeleteWell you sure did a great job there... ! I was wishing at the last minute that I would have purchased glasses to look. Oh well. We didn't get the full effect here anyway... but still.
ReplyDeleteI think I would have enjoyed it more if I had the glasses. Oh, well, too late now.
