One Lousy Week

I believe I'm dying, actually, I'm sure I am - you all are too. Okay, I admit that I am in a bleep-poor mood. Seems if anything can go wrong, it will.
Blueberry/Grape Must this morning ...
Everything was going swimmingly until Thursday, the must had been smelling like wine. Thursday morning is had a different wang to it. What does one do with blueberry vinegar? Not sure what I did wrong but I must have done something. Back to square one - except - now I have a cold or bad allergies or I'm gonna die. I don't feel like starting again right now.
Had two plants started, but somebody decided to check it out.
The pie I made was good. Not worth doing instead of spending $5.99 at the store though. What a mess to clean up! Argh.

Thursday night, I didn't help myself a bit. I sat on the front porch watching for the awesome Perseid's showers we were supposed to have. It was a beautiful night, the witching hour, the bugs making their summer song. I was out there a long time, actually getting a chill from the damp chill breeze. I saw less than a dozen and decided I didn't have a good enough view. Tacky kept walking in front of the motion-sensor lights on the steps. I went into the house and stared at nothing going on, on the Nasa site. Somebody said to try another site, and some guy was blabbing - once every so often the screen would freeze with a shot of a meteorite. NOT worth the $ I was spending on my hot spot for streaming. Someone else said the really big show would be around 3a.m. So I decided to read a while and not waste my $. All in all, I should have just gone to bed.

Well, I'm going to grab my box of Kleenex and skulk back to bed with my crabby self. Have a pleasant weekend!

  2. As we age we spend too damn much time thinking we are dying. I don't make pies, seems like lot of work, I so make a cobbler once in a while.

    1. You see - we don't know how much pain and sickness a human body can take - thus if it becomes intolerable - we consider ourselves at death's door.
You have a lemon cobbler recipe? Send please!

    2. I found some lemon cobbler recipes - but they take lemon pie filling... sure do sound good though.

  3. I tried making brandy once using apple jack I made from the apples off my tree, wasn't bad tasting but didn't have any kick.

  4. Head colds or allergies aren't fun. They always leave you feeling yucky. Baking pies and making wine. Sometimes we just need to try making things like that to remind us of how much easier it is just to buy ready-made. Feel better soon!

    1. I go through this every fall, although it's earlier for some reason. I hate admitting that I can't do all the things I used to do, so I have to try once and awhile. Thanks, I will probably live. :/

  5. I'm just going to tip toe quietly away from your site...no need to get up, I'll let myself out. I'll probably try later when you're in a better mood.

  7. Thursday was not a good day for me either. I spent most of the day at the hospital having blood platelets injected. Didn't see this coming, at least so soon. No wonder I forgot to watch the show in the sky.

  9. Time to get a favorite beverage, a bunch of chocolate (or favorite snack), and good book, and find a room to block off. Tell any house members that you are going to tear them limb from limb if they bother you, and spend the afternoon by yourself. It works for me. Sometimes, at any rate. Or a nap. That's also good.

    1. Did the nap thing already - dreamed some wild dreams and I am exhausted from them! I'm taking care of myself the best I can. Chocolate - not a single bit of it in the house!

  10. Sorry your not feeling well. And on your birthday even!!! It is your birthday, right? Unless I am getting you mixed up with someone else. You have worked so hard ... I am sorry to hear about all the stuff going wrong. Well, we were at the beach the night of the showers and as we reclined on the balcony of our condo and watched into the sky for about twenty minutes we saw one very bright shooting star and I was so excited! But that was it. Bedtime came and the show had to go on without me. Hope you are feeling better soon.

  11. Nothing worse than not feeling well. And then putting effort into something that doesn't work out. Especially when we don't have lots of energy. Stay in bed, rest and keep your fluids up. Feel better soon

  12. Oh no S.J. I hope you're feeling better soon! And I hope it's just allergies. :( - I didn't see any of the showers and I was a lit'l bummed because I always try to make the time, take the time, to watch. Not sure what I was doing that was more important than watching a spectacular, God given light show. - Get your rest. Sending prayers from Idaho. <3
