Time for bed ...

I just did my grocery shopping for next week! Yes, me! Actually, I made myself figure out how to shop at home on the comp at Wally World. DH has been bugging me to try it out. Poor guy he's tired of buying groceries and then listening to me complain about how everything he gets is too spicy or salty for me.

Well, the whole game used to take him a couple of hours. Tonight, I started at 12:30 and finished a bit after 4:30, that was after I made out the grocery list. I got a bit carried away, but I made sure I ordered some stuff that I like; pistachio pudding, long spaghetti, grape juice, canned tamales, Jiffy mix for muffins and waffles ... He got to the point where he wouldn't use a list(or take one.)

Grocery prices have sure gone up since I was pushing the cart. I admit I did get a little carried away, the total was over $125. I was tempted to order a cheese cake to keep in the freezer for occasional indulgence. (I have been known to make one last a week) I didn't order one though, I figured that was pushing my luck - he still has to pick up what he wants for suppers - haha.

I'm making so many mistakes, I better go to bed. I hope I don't dream about the lemon pie I want to make. (Mix)

Have a great day and a wonderful weekend!

P.S. MMMimi - I can't figure out how I used to comment on your blog. Help! What do I do?

  1. Are you talking about ordering groceries online and they get delivered to the house? We just got that service here and I plan to try it. It's just a comfort knowing it's available, if nothing else. When I go to the store on Saturday I see the shoppers in their green shirts and bags EVERY WHERE. There must be 20 of them filling orders.

$125 isn't bad for two people. Commenting? Got to find and click on the word "comment" which is usually at the bottom of the posts you want to leave a comment at, but once in a while they are at the top.

  2. I hate the grocery store, well not the store, but the shoppers. Might be nice to do it on line.

  3. I've ordered from Amazon Prime's Pantry. I like it being delivered to the door.

  4. I haven't tried ordering groceries online but I have a friend who does it all the time. I am lucky that Lou loves to go to the grocery store, and he does a good job at getting what we need. However, as he doesn't drink coffee, I went for a month without coffee filters. I was cutting paper towels to fit)

    1. Interesting thought regarding online shopping. But makes me a bit weary cuz I don't like to give out my credit card number, friend Sharon. Am also a very picky eater as I eat no sugar, not even hidden sugars found in fruit, bread, rice, pasta and potatoes. I do eat eggs, meat, cheese and butter, vegetables and salads. My favourite potatoe substitute is boiled radishes. My favourite pasta substitute is zucchini "noodles". Anyway … Love, cat.

  6. I have done my shopping online many times but I usually find the the very thing I really wanted is not in stock and they have substituted something else. I got fed up with this and so have reverted to going to the shop.

  7. I loathe and detest grocery shopping. Himself loves it. I really need to explore ordering on line for when he is away - but do need to see, feel and smell fruit and vegies before I order.

  8. So glad I can now leave a comment - I couldn't for a long time. And now I don't know what to say -- OK, I know, grocery shopping -- I get so tired these days. I used to go to several stores when I first moved up here, but now I just go to one, then wait until next time I drive the 15 miles to the stores to go to the next one. Then it's the post office, the bank, and so on. Still it's better than living in a city.

  9. Omgosh. Those pies sound so yummy. I haven't tried ordering from Wally World online yet either and everyone is saying I should try it as well because I can't stand going in that store. I'll go to 5 different stores if I have to before I'll go there but ordering online might be something to try. - I knew which comment was from you by your email address but I think in the comments you choose your Google account which is also your Blogger account. :) It gives you a choice.

  10. It is tiring to visit stores frequently and also boring.

Glad that you have online ordering services dear Sharon!

When I make list I make sure that hubby is around to avoid future arguments about missing necessary stuff lol

  11. I have been an on-line shopper for a few years and wouldn't have it any other way. You get into the swing of it after a while. What I did was prepare a list of everything I might ever need and printed it off. It helps me not to forget things!

  12. I am so impressed! I keep meaning to do online shopping but never get organised enough. Think you should have gone for the cheesecake though. You never know when you may need one.

  13. I've shopped online a few times, but really prefer going to the store and wandering around choosing stuff for myself. I might see something I hadn't planned on that would be a better deal or a nice change. Can't do that online.
But kudos to you for working it out and getting it done :)

  14. Hey Sharon...hoping you are doing fine. My son and daughter in law do almost all their shopping on line. Crazy, I like to go and check things out for myself so I am not there yet.

  15. Haven't tried grocery shopping on line yet. Do you just plug in what you want then go pick it up?

    1. I was nervous at first, that's why it took me a while to do it.

First you sign up, then go to the shopping page, click on when you will pick up the groceries from the list. Shop. Pay with credit or debit card, although they don't take your money out right away. I guess there is a place to check if substitutions wanted or not. I did a 'dry run' just to make sure they had what I would want.

I checked off what I wanted (you can remove or order 2 or more of an item, as you go - or go back to it later if you find something different) It took me a while, I'm always timid when I do something new.

When I felt I was done, I ordered it and was relieved. I picked 4:00 in the afternoon for pick-up. Pick -up was a little sketchy(or I didn't understand)
They sent me an email when it was ready, with clear instructions. In the meantime, DH was asking them about it and they were loading our car. I called and it was all done!

You are on your own as far as to getting it into the house, haha.

    2. Also, I was afraid they would push the higher priced items, but that was not the case. I could order name brand, or store brand or whatever.

I did not order any deli items, so don't know the particulars about that.

I noticed that the meat is by the pound, but I'm sure if you want steaks it will depend of what the individual steak weighs as to what you are charged - just like the meat counter.
