Good-bye Mr. Jingles

So - I ruined a perfectly good 5 gallon bucket making my mouse trap. Sigh ...
DH did the shopping on Saturday and bought some glue traps. We will need more. They work slicker than snot! I'm sure there are a lot of members of the Jingles family waiting in the wings and I believe we need to put them out in the shed and in the garage.
The insurance on "Brad," the '41 Dodge, doesn't cover rodent infestation or damage. We need to prevent asap!
I didn't notice what brand he had - they are all gone now - but I will need to order a case of them as soon as I know. He's sleeping now, I'll ask when he gets up. I don't know if those traps are all created equally.
It's nice to know that we finally have a solution! Now to figure out how to get rid of the smell. DH says he can't smell them, but he may already be nose blind.
I hope you are not too squeamish.

  1. The glue trap is a nasty way for them to die. I caught a few of them that ways and made sure to end their misery quickly. They are effective though.

    1. Think these had some kind of poison, they died fairly quickly.

  2. That does look familiar... Those little vermin can get out of almost any trap, so as much as I hate the idea of the glue boards, I use them, because they are non toxic, and they WORK. In fact, we might have a Jingles of our own in the attic. Husband put some boards up there, and I haven't heard the noises, so we might have caught them. Need to go check. Husband is afraid I will put a foot through the ceiling, so will have to ask him to check. I hope you get the brood of little monsters taken care of!!!

    1. Believe these may be toxic - unless they die from heart attacks. DH is buying six more packages of 4 and we'll go from there.

  3. The glue traps work here for a lot of bugs too. I caught the largest Scorpion on one that I've ever seen.

  4. If they work. I too would be getting bucket loads!
I too and smell them but hubby can't. It might be a man thing. A good clean and maybe some peppermint oil or some other essential oil you like

    1. IF they didn't stink, or make such a mess, or damage things - I think they are so cute!

  6. That certainly seems to be the most effective method. I say put up with the smell until the extended Jingles family is eradicated.

    1. I tried clothes-pinning a fabric softener sheet to the cold air return to the central unit, but it didn't help much.

  7. We have crickets big time in this house. The glue traps keep them under control. Can't put a glue trap in every nook and cranny that I'd like to, because Dilly, our dog, won't leave the one under a certain cabinet alone. No matter how far back I place it, she always manages to dig it out. (We've also caught a few mice.)

    1. I'm liking these glue traps more all the time. I haven't put any on the floor yet, I'm sure one of us would have a foot in it.

  8. Oh my! You caught the mother lode.... it's sad to see them die but I would do the same.. they are not welcome in my house.

    1. Four more since the new supply this morning. They are getting smart now though and I saw one go around the trap.

  9. I have used glue traps as well. A few years ago, I invested in exterior traps that you have to bait but they seem to work fairly well. Mice go in a plastic box kind of thing for the bait and can't get out. Critter Control (a company here) set up 4 initially and I haven't had a mouse indoors again. I have to rebait them ever once in a while. The glue traps are easier and more visual as far as seeing when you have caught one but they freak me out a bit because I don't want to see them.

    1. I would worry about having bait outside with the cat and dogs. I have a live trap, but the mice are getting smarter and we had to wait for a novice mouse to come along.

  10. I awoke at 4'clock this morning - middle of the night - by Charlie chasing and killing a mouse. At least I didn't have to kill it but I could have done with more sleep. Fortunately I only get mice in the house when Charlie brings them in. We do have a council service though that will come and deal with mice problems if they get worse.
